What's this project all about?
We’ve upgraded the sewer network along Arthur Street, Launceston, to improve service reliability.
This project is part of our commitment to maintaining essential infrastructure and delivering reliable water and sewer services to support the needs of our growing community.
Approximately 62 metres of the existing sewer main was replaced along Arthur Street, between the intersection of Welman Street and My Street, as part of this project.
Why was this work needed?
A recent road issue revealed movement in old sewer pipes beneath the surface. This section has been deteriorating over time and requires repair to prevent potential leaks.
Construction Update - Works completed
All construction works on the 62-metre section of sewer main have now been completed, with the asphalt sealing works taking place in early January 2026.
This upgrade ensures the reliability of the sewer network along Arthur Street, Launceston, now and into the future.
Works were successfully completed on schedule with the project involving significant traffic management due to Arthur Street being a major thoroughfare into the Launceston CBD. The upgrade was completed with minimal disruption to residents and local businesses.
We would like to express our gratitude to local residents in the area for their patience and understanding while we undertook this important upgrade project.
