What's this project all about?
As part of our commitment to investing in new and improved sewerage infrastructure to cater for Tasmania’s future growth, we are upgrading Bicheno Sewage Treatment Plant.
The upgrade will include improvements to both treatment processes and electrical systems, helping to enhance the quality of water returned to the environment and support healthier waterways. These works will also improve aeration within the treatment lagoon and ensure recycled water continues to meet the required standards, now and into the future.
Works are planned to commence during July and be completed by late 2025.
Construction Update – June 2025
TasWater is upgrading the Bicheno Sewage Treatment Plant as part of our ongoing commitment to protecting the local environment and supporting the needs of a growing community.
Our work is scheduled to begin on 15 July 2025.
During these works, you may notice:
- Most activity will take place within the treatment plant itself.
- There will be an increase in vehicle movements, construction personnel, and general site noise, including a brief period of hammering and vibration while we install key safety measures.
- No increase in odour is expected during the works.
- Works will occur Monday to Friday only, between 7 am and 6 pm.
We thank the Bicheno community for their support and understanding as we deliver this important upgrade.
