What's this project all about?
The Burnie Trunk Main Renewal is an important initiative designed to replace old water mains in Burnie, Tasmania.
These aging pipes have been prone to frequent failures, causing interruptions for around 3,800 customers. The goal of this project is to enhance the reliability of our water supply by installing new, durable pipelines made from advanced materials.
The key drivers for the project are:
Improving Reliability - New, long-lasting pipelines will significantly reduce maintenance needs and minimise service interruptions.
Minimised Disruption - We’ll use innovative construction techniques to limit environmental impacts and protect existing infrastructure.
Restoration Efforts -Once the work is done, we’ll restore all affected areas to their original or better condition, ensuring minimal disruption to the community.
Construction is set to begin by the end of 2024, with completion expected by mid-2025. We’re committed to keeping the community informed throughout this process and welcome your feedback and questions.
