We’re upgrading the water network along Clarence Street, Bellerive to improve service reliability and reduce the risk of leaks and breakages.

This project is part of TasWater’s ongoing commitment to improve water infrastructure across Tasmania, ensuring our customers continue to receive a safe and reliable water supply.

TasWater is pleased to advise that the new water main has been successfully installed, and all remediation works including pavement works and line marking are now completed.

Works were successfully completed with the project involving significant traffic management due to Clarence Street being a major thoroughfare. These upgrades were completed with minimal disruption to residents and local businesses and ensure the reliability and quality of the water network along Clarence Street, Bellerive, now and into the future.

We would like to express our gratitude to local residents in the area for their patience and understanding while we undertook this important upgrade project.

Update - 19 December 2025

TasWater is pleased to advise that the new water main has been successfully installed, and all affected properties are now connected. This upgrade will improve the reliability of the water supply, enhance water quality, and increase the efficiency of the network, reducing the need for maintenance and repairs in the future.

While no major work took place over the Christmas period, some crew and vehicles were in the area completing minor pavement works and line marking. These activities were low-impact and were expected to be finished by mid-January 2026.

We thank the community for their patience and understanding while we carried out this important work to establish a reliable water network for the future.

What’s happening

Before installing the new water main, our crews carried out ground investigation works using a vacuum truck. This helped us safely locate existing underground services before construction commenced.

Our crews are currently in the process of installing the new water main and connecting residents to it, as they progressively make their way through Clarence Street.

Why this work was needed

The existing water main in Clarence Street has been prone to leaks and breakages.

Replacing it will help improve:

  • The reliability of your water service
  • The quality of water supplied to local homes and businesses
  • The efficiency of the network reduces maintenance and repair needs in the future
Where and when

Location: Clarence Street, Bellerive – between Derwent Street and River Street, on the Ninja Stadium side of the street.

  • Investigation works: Starting Monday, 3 November 2025, running for around four days, between 7 am and 5 pm.
  • Water main installation: Beginning mid-November 2025 and continuing through to early 2026.
  • No works are planned between Wednesday, 24 December 2025, and Monday, 5 January 2026.
What to expect

During work, you may notice:

  • Crews, vehicles, and equipment in the area
  • Some noise from machinery (vacuum trucks and excavators)
  • Minor and temporary changes to traffic movements and on-street parking
  • Traffic management is in place to keep everyone safe
  • Property access is maintained at all times

There will be no interruption to your water supply until the work is completed, and you are transferred to the new infrastructure. Times and dates for any outages will be provided in advance.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we complete this essential upgrade for Bellerive’s water network.
