What's this project all about?

We’re upgrading Dover’s sewer network as part of TasWater’s commitment to improving Tasmania’s sewerage infrastructure. These works will reduce the risk of overflows in heavy weather and cater for Dover’s growth.

The project includes:

  • Upgrades to the Dover Foreshore Sewage Pump Station: including a new emergency storage tank.
  • Replacement of the Francistown Sewage Pump Station: With the addition of a new emergency storage tank.
  • New sewer mains: rising and gravity mains installed to improve the flow to the Dover Sewage Treatment Plant.

Once complete, these upgrades will make the system more reliable, safer, and better equipped to handle large weather events.

Why are we doing this?

Dover’s existing sewer network lacks the storage and capacity to perform at a high level consistently. This creates a higher risk of overflows during large weather events. By upgrading the pump stations and sewer mains, we’re strengthening the network to better serve the community now and into the future.

What to expect during the work.

We know construction can cause some short-term disruption, and we’re committed to keeping this to a minimum. While works are underway, you may notice:

  • More vehicle movements, including heavy machinery and workers in the area.
  • Some construction-related noise.
  • Temporary changes to driveway access (we’ll speak with affected properties ahead of time).
  • Minor changes to traffic and pedestrian movements. Sections of road and footpath may be altered during construction, with traffic controllers on site to keep everyone moving safely.
