What's this project all about?
As part of our commitment to improve water infrastructure throughout the state, we will be renewing the water main along part of Frederick Street, Launceston. We’ll be renewing the existing water main along Frederick Street, Launceston, with the work expected to be carried out over six weeks, subject to ground conditions.
Approximately 110 meters of the existing water main along Frederick Street, between Charles Street and St John Street, located adjacent to Princes Square, will be renewed as part of this project. Renewing this section now will help prevent potential failures, maintain stable water pressure, and ensure consistently high water quality.
Why are we doing this
The existing water main along Frederick Street has been gradually deteriorating. Renewing this section now will help prevent potential failures, maintain stable water pressure, and ensure consistently high water quality.
What to expect during these works
We are committed to minimising disruptions to the local community, but you may notice some temporary impacts, including:
- Increased vehicle movements, including heavy machinery
- Intermittent construction noise
- Minor traffic changes, including traffic temporarily down to a single lane
- Reduced on-street parking and some changes to access to properties.
Our works will be under traffic management to minimise impacts to residents and businesses.
Upcoming water service interruption/s.
We will provide further updates to affected residents with specific details before this work takes place at the end of the project. Unfortunately, these impacts are unavoidable during the construction process.
