March 2026 – Project Update

17 March 2026

New Outfall Pipe

We have now completed the installation of the new outfall pipe at Shipwrights Point, a key part of our commitment to improving environmental outcomes in the region.

  • The Horizontal Directional Drilling site has been cleared and levelled, and the grass is taking well
  • The outfall pipe, located 260 metres offshore at a depth of 13 metres, will provide improved dilution and dispersion, supporting better environmental outcomes.
New Sewer Pump Station

As part of the project, a new pump station and 79-kilolitre emergency storage tank will be installed near the existing Geeveston Sewage Treatment Plant.

  • This tank will help reduce the frequency and volume of overflow events.
  • Site office and laydown area establishment work will begin in April 2026
  • Construction is expected to commence in July 2026
New 4.3. kl Pipeline

Design work for the new 4.3-kilometre pipeline along the Huon Highway, connecting the Geeveston Sewage Treatment Plant to Shipwrights Point, has been completed.

  • We are finalising construction contracts
  • Major pipeline construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026.
