What's this project all about?
In 2017, a comprehensive high-level assessment of all reservoirs in the Greater Launceston area revealed significant capacity deficiencies in the Windermere Reservoir and Hillwood Reservoir zones. To safeguard the security of water supply, we are actively addressing these concerns by undertaking the construction of two new reservoirs:
- A new 350KL concrete reservoir at Hillwood.
- A new 300KL concrete reservoir at Windemere.
Construction for both reservoirs is well underway, with completion scheduled for the middle of 2024.
These infrastructure improvements aim to boost storage capacity at both sites, ensuring the capability to meet water demands during periods of elevated consumption, particularly in times of drought and heightened fire seasons.
