What's this project all about?
We are delivering a project to replace sections of water main along Liverpool Street and Murray Street in the Hobart CBD.
The current water main was installed in the 1940's and has unfortunately experienced multiple failures in recent times.
The renewal of these sections of main has been fast tracked to ensure we minimise the risk of future disruptions to local businesses and the community.
Liverpool Street Water Main Renewal
- The section of main will be replaced between Murray Street and Harrington Street
- Works will commence on Monday 20 January
- Works will be completed at night to minimise impacts on local business and traffic
- Night works will take place Sunday - Thursday, between the hours of 9pm - 6am
- Traffic will be reduced to a single lane during works and parking on the north side of the street will be restricted
- A short service interruption will be experienced towards the end of the project as we connect properties to the new main.
Murray Street Water Main Renewal
- The section of main will be replaced between Liverpool Street and Collins Street
- Preliminary investigation works will commence 12 May and take approximately two weeks to complete
- During this period there will be increased construction vehicle movements and noise in the area
- Works will be completed at night to minimise impacts on local business and traffic
- Night works will take place Sunday - Thursday, between the hours of 9pm - 6am
- Traffic management will be in place during the works, with sections of nearby streets reduced to a single lane, and some on street parking restrictions. Both lanes will be open as normal during the day.
