About
What's this project all about?
As part of our commitment to improving water infrastructure across Tasmania, we’re replacing sections of water main along Liverpool Street and Murray Street in the Hobart CBD.
Why is this work needed?
The current water main in this area was installed in the 1940's and has unfortunately experienced multiple failures in recent times. The renewal of these sections of main has been fast tracked to minimise the risk of future disruptions to local businesses and the community.
Construction update - works complete
The new water mains on Liverpool Street, between Murray Street and Harrington Street, and Murray Street, between Liverpool Street and Collins Street are now fully operational.
All services and properties have been connected, and the reinstatement of the road and footpath is complete.
Replacing these two sections of 80-year-old water mains was a critical step in securing a safe and
reliable water supply for Hobart’s CBD businesses and residents into the future.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the local community and businesses for their patience and understanding throughout this essential work.
