What is this project about?
Orford is a picturesque coastal town, known for its pristine beaches and stunning landscapes. As part of our commitment to improving Tasmania’s water infrastructure, we’re upgrading the water main along Prosser River Road and Charles Street. This essential upgrade will help reduce the risk of leaks, pressure issues, and service interruptions, ensuring the community continues to enjoy a safe and reliable water supply.
What is taking place?
We’re replacing around 330 metres of ageing galvanised iron water main with modern, durable water pipes along Prosser River Road and Charles Street. The work will be carried out across several weeks.
Why is this work needed?
The current pipes, installed in 1970, have been gradually deteriorating. Upgrading them now will help prevent potential failures, maintain stable water pressure, and ensure consistently high-water quality.
What to expect during these works
We are committed to minimising disruptions to the community, but you may notice some temporary impacts, including:
- Increased vehicle movements including heavy machinery
- Construction noise
- Minor traffic delays
During construction, there may be some temporary impacts, including changes to traffic conditions and access along sections of Charles Street and Prosser River Road. We’ll have appropriate traffic management in place and will keep the community informed before and during major works to minimise impacts to residents and businesses. - Upcoming water service interruption/s.
We will provide further updates to affected residents with specific details before this work takes place at the end of the project. - Unfortunately, these impacts are unavoidable during construction.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience as we deliver this important project.
