What was this project about?
Orford is a picturesque coastal town, known for its pristine beaches and stunning landscapes. As part of our commitment to improving Tasmania’s water infrastructure, we upgraded the aging water main along Prosser River Road and Charles Street. This essential upgrade helps reduce the risk of leaks, pressure issues, and service interruptions, ensuring the community continues to enjoy a safe and reliable water supply into the future.
What took place?
We replaced around 330 metres of ageing galvanised iron water main with modern, durable water pipes along Prosser River Road and Charles Street. The work was carried out across several weeks and we would like to thank the community for their patience though any short-term inconvenience of construction that was required for a long-term gain to the level of service provided and to the community.
Why was this work needed?
The former pipes were installed in 1970 and were gradually deteriorating. Through the upgrades in this project, it has helped prevent potential failures, maintain stable water pressure, and ensure consistently high-water quality.
