What's this project all about?

Queenstown has witnessed significant changes over the years as the community has grown and tourism has flourished. The town’s water mains were originally constructed and installed in the 1950s to accommodate renewed population growth post WWII.

We will conduct extensive upgrades to Queenstown's water mains commencing in the first half of 2024.

We are fully committed to renewing almost 6 kilometres of water mains and decommissioning aging infrastructure. Sections of original the galvanised iron mains will be removed and replaced with high density polyethylene pipe. Spanning from Wilsdon Street in the north to Lynchford Road in the south, modernisation of the network will ensure that Queenstown residents enjoy continued access to clean and reliable drinking water for years to come.

Preliminary works kicked off in November 2023, with Tasman Geotechnics, our contracted partner, conducting soil testing throughout Queenstown.

A construction contract was awarded in early 2024, with major works poised to commence at the beginning of May.

We are actively collaborating with the Queenstown community to ensure that this significant infrastructure project is executed with maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
