What's this project all about?

We’re renewing sections of water mains in Rosebery to help deliver a more reliable and consistent water service for the local community. These upgrades will take place along Hospital Road, Nicholas Street, and Urquhart Street.

The existing water mains in these areas were installed in 1959 and are no longer performing to the standard we aim to deliver. As part of this upgrade, we’ll also be redirecting some sections of the network. By renewing the pipes, we’re aiming to improve long-term reliability and reduce the risk of unplanned disruptions in the future.

Preliminary work has already begun behind the scenes, and we’ll share further updates with the community as soon as construction dates are confirmed.

We appreciate your support as we invest in a stronger, more resilient water network for Rosebery.

Community Impacts

What to expect during these works:

We are committed to minimising disruptions to the community, but we expect you may notice some temporary impacts including:

  • Increased vehicle and crew movements in the area - trucks, TasWater fleet vehicles, and contractor vehicles
  • Construction related noise
  • Traffic management will be in place to manage safety, maintain property access, and minimise impacts to local traffic - please anticipate minor traffic delays during the works
  • Some properties may experience short-term access restrictions during construction – our crews will work closely with affected customers to reduce any inconvenience once works commence.
  • Limited water supply interruptions while we carry out pre-start testing and connect the new pipeline – we will notify affected property owners in advance.

We thank you for your patience as we prepare to deliver this important project.
