This project is part of TasWater’s ongoing commitment to improve water infrastructure across Tasmania, ensuring our customers continue to receive a safe and reliable water supply.
What's happening
We’re installing a new water main to connect Davey Street, through Fitzroy Gardens, to our water main near Digney Street, Dynnyrne.
Why this work is needed
This project will create a stronger and more efficient link between key parts of the Hobart water network. This will improve water reliability and support future maintenance and upgrades with less disruption to customers.
We recognise that the Fitzroy Gardens and their established trees are an important part of the community’s character. We’ve worked closely with the City of Hobart and qualified arborists to plan our work carefully, helping to protect vegetation and minimise any impact to nearby gardens and trees during construction.
Where and when
Location: In Fitzroy Gardens - between Davey Street and Digney Street, Dynnyrne.
- Starting in November 2025, and planned to be completed by late January 2026. Weekdays only between 7 am and 5 pm.
- There will be future night works, but we will let you know in advance.
What to expect
During work, you may notice:
- Crews, vehicles, and equipment in the area
- Some noise from machinery (vacuum trucks and excavators)
- Minor and temporary changes to traffic movements and on-street parking
- Traffic management is in place to keep everyone safe
- Property access is maintained at all times
There will be no interruption to your water supply until major work is completed. We will let you know in advance if there are any supply interruptions.
We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we complete this essential upgrade for Hobart's water network.
