What's this project all about?
We undertook a project to replace a section of the sewer main along Talbot Road in South Launceston.
The main was nearly 90 years old and had experienced numerous failures in recent years, leading to sewage overflows. The previous route crossed Talbot Road, a crucial arterial road with high traffic. After careful consideration, we decided to install the sewer along a new alignment.
The new installation involved approximately 250 meters of gravity sewer running between 14 Talbot Road and 6 Talbot Road. From there, it now diverges from the existing path, beneath Lawrence Vale Road, traversing the park, and connects to the pipeline on Chungon Crescent.
The new pipeline aims to significantly reduce the risk of failures that have previously affected the local environment and community.
