To boost reliability for Orford and Triabunna, TasWater is installing a new 885-metre subsea pipeline across Spring Bay.

The existing pipeline has recently broken in several places due to corroded anchors and shifting caused by tides and currents. Because the pipeline sits on the seabed, it’s difficult to access and repair, often requiring professional divers, which leads to longer-than-usual outages.

The new pipeline will be secured with anchors every 10 metres, helping to protect it from movement and reducing the risk of future breaks.

🔹 What: Spring Bay Subsea Pipeline Renewal
🔹 Where: Between Alginate Bay and Paddys Point across Spring Bay
🔹 When: Monday 28 July through to early October.

📍 From early August, you’ll notice increased activity along the shoreline at Orford and Triabunna - between Alginate Bay and Paddys Point - as well as more vessel movements on the bay.

💧 This upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to delivering safe, reliable water services to Tasmania’s east coast. We’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption and keep you updated as the work progresses.
