What's this project all about?

We’re inspecting sewage pump stations (SPS) across Tasmania to check their overall condition and identify any issues.

To do this safely, we’ll temporarily empty and clean the wet wells - something that we don’t get to do often. This gives us a rare chance to inspect the concrete structure and equipment inside, including ladders, platforms, and pipes.

The goal is to spot any defects early and plan the right repairs at the right time - helping us keep the stations running safely and reliably for the future.

We’ll keep communities informed by providing advance notice before work begins.

Locations

  • Lindisfarne SPS – 40A Esplanade, Lindisfarne
  • Hoblers Bridge Road SPS – 41–43 Hoblers Bridge Road, St Leonards
  • Gilbert Street SPS – Gilbert Street, Latrobe
  • Hunter Street SPS – Hunter Street (Wharf area), Hobart

What to expect during the works

We are committed to minimising disruptions to the community, but you may notice some temporary impacts, including:

  • Night works - maximum two nights
  • Temporary odour
  • Increased vehicle and crew movements in the area - trucks, TasWater fleet vehicles, and contractor vehicles
  • Construction related noise
  • Traffic management will be in place where required to manage safety, maintain property access, and minimise impacts to local traffic - please anticipate minor traffic delays during the works.

Unfortunately, these impacts are unavoidable during this project.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience as we deliver this important project.
