February 2025 Construction Update – TERHAP

28 February 2025

The year is off to a strong start for our Tamar Estuary River Health Action Plan (TERHAP), with major progress across our key projects to deliver new sewerage infrastructure for Launceston.

These upgrades will help improve the health of Kanamaluka / Tamar Estuary and the surrounding environment.

Ti Tree Bend Sewage Treatment Plant

Our work at Ti Tree Bend is gaining momentum, with several major milestones reached:

  • Structural concrete works – these continue the 10-megalitre holding tank, a vital key piece of infrastructure that will improve how we manage wastewater.
  • Pipeline connection - works have begun to link future vital sections of Launceston’s sewer network to the recently completed New Sewer Pipeline we installed under the Kanamaluka / Tamar Estuary.
  • Tasmanian expertise leading the way – we’re about to award the contract for the mechanical fabrication and installation works to a local supplier, ensuring this major upgrade supports jobs and businesses in our state.

Kings Park Construction Site

We’re making great progress at Kings Park, bringing us closer to a more efficient sewer system and future parkland restoration:

  • Pipeline connection – we’ve now completed works to connect the Margaret Street Pump Station to the New Sewer Pipeline.
  • Rehabilitation of Kings Park – planning is well underway for these works to begin later in 2025, ensuring the area is restored and ready for the community to enjoy.

We appreciate the community’s patience and support as we work to create a healthier k

Kanamaluka / Tamar Estuary for generations to come.
