Abouts
What's this project all about?
We’re renewing sections of water main along Goldie and Jackson Street, Wynyard to help ensure a more reliable water service for the Wynyard community.
These existing water mains, installed in the late 1970s, have experienced a growing number of failures in recent years and are no longer performing to our standards. By renewing the pipes, we’re aiming to improve long-term reliability and reduce the risk of unplanned disruptions in the future.
Works are scheduled to begin on Monday, 8 September 2025 in Goldie Street, before moving onto Jackson Street from Monday, 29 September 2025.
Once underway, work hours will be 7:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, weather permitting.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we carry out these important upgrades.
What to expect during the works
We are committed to minimising disruptions to the community, but you may notice some temporary impacts, including:
- Minor traffic delays, with traffic management in place
- Temporary access restrictions to some properties and reduced on-street parking. Our crews will work closely with affected residents and businesses to minimise inconvenience
- Excavation along sections of the footpath and road reserve
- Increased vehicle movements and contractor activity in the area
- Construction-related noise and dust throughout the works
- Water supply interruptions during testing and customer connections. We will provide directly impacted customers with further notification ahead of time.
- Staging site will be located at the Railway Institute Hall. Please anticipate increased vehicle and crew activity in this area.
We’re also mindful of the Wynyard Tulip Festival on the weekend of 11–12 October 2025. The sites will be left tidy and, where possible, traffic management will be removed during the event.
We thank you for your patience as we deliver this important project.
