Bicheno Rising Main Renewal - Construction Update - October 2024

11 October 2024

From Monday 14 October 2024 works will begin on the pipeline’s construction along Murray Street, including sections of the road reserve on the Tasman Highway between Murray Street and Gordon Street, Bicheno.

During these works there will be an increase in truck movements, heavy excavation machinery, light vehicles and workers in the area. There will also be an increase in construction related impacts such as some noise during working hours.

As part of the project, we will be establishing a small satellite office on the corner of Gordon Street where we will store some machinery and construction materials.

We have designed the pipeline alignment to avoid existing infrastructure, and most large trees in the area. One tree may need to be removed during the works, and all relevant approvals are in place if this needs to occur.

While we deliver this important project, there will be some disruptions to the local area and the way people move around.

If you are using the walking track along the along the Tasman Highway or near the Murray Street Sewage Pump Station, please observe the temporary pedestrian detours in place.

During the first few weeks of our construction works, access to the foreshore from the Murray Street Sewage Pump Station may not be available due to construction in this area. Pedestrians will need to access the foreshore from the walkway at the end of Waubs Court as directed by signage. A similar arrangement will be in place at the end of the project as we connect the new infrastructure to the existing network.

We thank the Bicheno community for their understanding while we deliver this important project.
