Queenstown Water Main Renewal - August Update

7 August 2025

Construction Update – August 2025

Improving access to safe and reliable drinking water

We are pleased to share that with the completion of Stages 4 and 5 we are coming to the end of the water main renewal program in Queenstown for 2025. These upgrades are part of our commitment to improving water quality and reliability for the local community.

Stage 4 & 5 Complete
Stage 4 along Henry Street, Urquhart Street, Grafton Street, Pillinger Street, Douglas Street, Braddon Street and O’Halloran Court and Stage 5 which includes Conlan Street, Murray Street, Lynchford Road, Mathew Street and Bury Street have now been completed. Crews will continue working through August to put the finishing touches on the restoration works. We appreciate the patience of residents as the crews have carried out these essential upgrades.

Bowes St to Du Cane Street

Initial plans to replace the booster pump station in Du Cane Street were altered when new modelling showed a mains connection to Bowes Street could be made to improve pressure and water quality in the area. This simplified the work, and this improvement allowed an existing pump station to be decommissioned for more efficiency. Residents will notice an improvement in pressure in this region. The new mains connection has recently been completed with demolition of the existing pump station buildings and restorations to be finalised shortly.

Additional Works
During construction additional works were added to the project to replace ageing water mains in Cutten Street and Philip Street. The Cutten Street works have recently been completed with works in Philip Street scheduled to be complete by the end of August. This is a fantastic result for the community as more aging infrastructure was identified and replaced leading to better water quality and pressure throughout the town.

We would like to thank the community for their ongoing cooperation and understanding as we continue working to provide access to clean, reliable drinking water for years to come.

Over the coming month, our crews will be demobilising for some time before returning to complete additional works to replace sewer and water mains early next year.
