Queens Walk Works – Temporary Closure of Cemetery Road

19 February 2026

As part of the Selfs Point Sewer Transformation, we’ll be installing the next section of the new sewer pipeline along Queens Walk.

To complete this work safely, sections of Queens Walk near the housing complex and the main entrance to Cornelian Bay Cemetery will be temporarily closed.

When

Mid-February to Friday 13 March 2026

Dates and works are subject to weather and ground conditions and may change if required.

What this means
  • No through access along Queens Walk between Selfs Point Road and Domain Highway.
  • No through traffic along Queens Walk between Risdon Road and Bell Street.
  • Alternative access will be maintained to the northern and southern entrances of the housing complex and Cornelian Bay Cemetery.
  • The Intercity Cycleway will remain open.
Plan your journey

Alternative access to Cornelian Bay Cemetery:

  • Option 1: Secondary access gate off Selfs Point Road (opposite 10 Lives Cattery).
  • Option 2: Bottom entrance off Queens Walk (near the Cornelian Bay playground).

Other access changes:

  • Access to New Town Bay (including 10 Lives Cattery, the Rugby Oval, and Cornelian Bay Cemetery) will be via Brooker Highway → Risdon Road.
  • Access to the Cornelian Bay recreational area and the Boathouse Restaurant will be via Domain Highway / Queens Walk.
  • Please allow up to 10 minutes of extra travel time when visiting these areas.

A diagram showing the closure area is included on this page for reference.

We understand these temporary changes may cause some disruption and appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we deliver this important infrastructure for Hobart’s future.
