Temporary Road Closure – Queens Walk (near Selfs Point Road, New Town)

5 September 2025

As part of the Selfs Point Sewer Transformation, we’re installing the next section of Hobart’s new 4.3 km sewer pipeline. To carry out this work safely, a temporary road closure will be in place near the intersection of Queens Walk and Selfs Point Road.

What’s happening

  • Where: A short section of Queens Walk will be fully closed near the intersection of Queens Walk and Selfs Point Road
  • When: Saturday, 13 September and Sunday, 14 September 2025.
  • Why: To safely and efficiently install the next section of the new sewer pipeline.

Detour routes and access

  • From Glenorchy/Lutana to Selfs Point/New Town Bay (including Cemetery and Cornelian Bay): Travel via Brooker Highway, Risdon Road, and Queens Walk (near Rugby Oval). Please note there will be no access to the Cornelian Bay area via Queens Walk.
  • From the Eastern Shore or City to Cornelian Bay area: Travel via Domain Highway and Queens Walk. There will be no access to the Cemetery or Selfs Point Road beyond the northern end of Queens Walk.
  • Public housing complex: The car park at the northern end of Queens Walk will remain accessible for residents during the closure.

We understand these works may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate the community's patience as we complete this important project to improve Hobart’s sewer infrastructure and protect the health of the Derwent.
