Upcoming Road Closure - Bell Street, Bellevue Parade and Cornelian Bay Oval sewer pipeline works

14 October 2025

As part of the Selfs Point Sewer Transformation Project, we’re preparing to install the next section of the new sewer pipeline between Bellevue Parade and Bell Street, extending through Cornelian Bay Oval.

What’s happening

From Monday 20 October 2025 until late November 2025, we’ll begin installing the new sewer pipeline between Bellevue Parade and Bell Street. At the same time, work will progress through Cornelian Bay Oval, starting near the Bell Street car park and following the northern edge of the oval (closest to the Brooker Highway) up to the area near the public housing complex.

Work will take place Monday through Friday, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Traffic and access

Bell Street residents

  • No direct access to Bell Street from the Bellevue Parade / Queens Walk intersection during construction.
  • Temporary access will be available through the nearby car park, with traffic controllers and clear signage to guide vehicles.
  • If you’re travelling to or from Bell Street, please use the Queens Walk – Risdon Road – Brooker Highway route.

Bellevue Parade residents

If you’re travelling south towards the city, you can continue to use Queens Walk to access the Domain Highway as normal.

Pedestrians and Cyclists

For those walking to Cornelian Bay Oval, please use the pedestrian access point across the Intercity Cycleway (located about halfway along Bellevue Parade), and follow the path through to Bell Street. The Intercity Cycleway will remain open for use.

What to expect

  • Excavators, construction vehicles, and additional workers in the area.
  • Fully fenced work zones for public safety.
  • Some noise associated with excavation and pipe-laying activities.
  • Local traffic management will be in place to support safe vehicle, cyclist, and pedestrian movements.

We understand that this area is well-used and valued by the community, and we’ll do our best to minimise disruption while this important work takes place.
