Upcoming works – Queens Walk hardstand area - Cornelian Bay

13 February 2025

As part of the Selfs Point Sewer Transformation, we’re building a 4.3-kilometre sewer pipeline to support Hobart’s growing community and help deliver a healthier Derwent.

From early March to early May 2025, Queens Walk will be closed between Domain Highway and Bellevue Parade to allow for construction of the new sewer pipeline

Before this closure, we will establish a small hardstand area in the rail corridor near the Intercity Cycleway, near the corner of Queens Walk and Bellevue Parade.

What you need to know

When: Works begin Monday 24 February 2025, with the hardstand area remaining in place until June 2025.

Where: A section of the rail corridor (adjacent to the Intercity Cycleway).

Why: This forms part of the new sewer pipeline alignment and will allow for pipeline installation under the rail line and cycleway—ensuring safe and unrestricted movement for pedestrians and cyclists.

What to expect

  • Light earthworks with trucks, compactors, and excavators on-site.
  • Site fencing around the area.
  • Traffic management for safety—NO roads, lanes, or cycle paths will be closed during these works.

We understand these changes may cause some disruption, and we appreciate your patience as we deliver this critical infrastructure upgrade for Hobart’s future.
