Recognition for the South Brighton Sewer Project

8 September 2025

The South Brighton Sewer Infrastructure Project has been recognised at the 2025 Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) Tasmanian Earth Awards, winning the category for $5M–$9M Projects.

Held on 22 August at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart, the awards celebrate excellence in Tasmanian civil construction projects.

Delivered in partnership

The project was delivered on schedule and within budget thanks to the combined efforts of:

  • Pitt & Sherry – design consultancy
  • Versatile Civil Contractors – site establishment
  • Batchelor Construction Group – rising and gravity mains
  • Netco Pumps – new sewer pump station

Project Engineer Joseph Randall said:

“Every partner brought their expertise and commitment. By working together, we kept things on track and delivered what was needed.”

Delivering complex work quickly

The project involved installing over two kilometres of sewer mains through Dylan Street, Melinda Court and William Street, along with constructing a new sewage pump station at the end of Dylan Street in challenging ground conditions. Despite these complexities, on-site construction was completed in a short timeframe between September 2024 to March 2025. This project is one of many that TasWater is delivering to deliver improved sewer services to support Tasmania’s growth.

Pride in what’s been achieved

While we don’t deliver projects with awards in mind, it’s pleasing to see the effort, teamwork and planning that went into the South Brighton Sewer Project recognised here in Tasmania.
