The Tolosa Reservoir is the next mural installation as part of our award-winning Asset Art program.

Local artist Harrison Bowe and Vibrance Projects have created two designs that blend into the surrounding environment while highlighting the journey the water takes through Tasmania’s breathtaking landscape.

The community has voted, and the winning mural will be displayed across the two Tolosa Reservoir tanks at the end of Tolosa Street, Glenorchy.

Tolosa Park

The Location

Tolosa Park in Glenorchy is a community space including playground, skate park, huts for hire and a music bowl. Currently TasWater is undertaking the Tolosa Park Dam Redevelopment Project in partnership with Glenorchy City Council which is the first step towards completion of the full vision outlined in the Glenorchy City Council’s Master Plan.

This project is transforming the old reservoir site into a family friendly parkland.

The key features of the project include:

  • creating a gently undulating site that includes level family-friendly areas
  • shapes that allow for drainage and overflow following large rain events, covered with topsoil to stabilise the new area with vegetation
  • a chain of lined wetland ponds, filled with water and appropriate plants
  • a series of level walking tracks
  • most of the dam wall will be removed and used to fill the site, but a small section will remain as a viewing platform and maintain the site’s heritage

The Tolosa Street Reservoirs were built just across the road in preparation for the dam to be decommissioned and the above project constructed. The two large eucalyptus green reservoir tanks have approximately a 540m² surface area, but not all of it can be seen easily.
