Regatta Grounds Car Park – Partial Closure

8 January 2026

As part of the next stage of the Selfs Point Sewer Transformation, a section of the Regatta Grounds Car Park will be temporarily closed from Monday, 19 January to mid-March 2026.

Where this is happening
  • The lower section of the car park (river side) will be closed
  • The upper section (Regatta Grounds side) will remain open
What’s happening

We’re constructing the next section of the new 4.3-kilometre sewer pipeline between the Macquarie Point Sewage Pump Station and the Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant.

Key construction dates
  • 19 January – 1 February: Site establishment, fencing, and initial construction
  • 1 February – 11 February: Site demobilised and trenches backfilled so the car park can be used during peak community events
  • 12 February – 10 March: Construction resumes, and the car park is again partially closed
  • 10 March – 21 March: Car park reopens and works move to McVilly Drive

Please note: Dates may change due to weather or ground conditions.

Hours of work
  • Monday to Friday: 7 am–5 pm
  • Saturday: 7 am–5 pm
What to expect
  • One-way access from McVilly Drive into the upper car park and to the Domain boat ramp and foreshore area
  • Exit via a temporary road through the Regatta Grounds grassed area
  • Construction machinery, including excavators and rock breaking
  • Fenced work areas and an increased workforce on-site
  • Clear signage is in place. Please follow all signs and observe speed limits
